Pass rate for dan tests every year, because no one gets the application form until a coach says they're ready

Why everyone passes

At Yuan Power, every belt and dan test starts with a coach's assessment.
You only get the application form once your coach says you're ready.

That's why our pass rate is 100% every year.
It isn't that the bar is low. Students who aren't ready don't get sent in.

Four students

Four people, four different stories

01

Lu Jui-tsen: away for six years, then back

She trained here in 2015, then stopped in third grade.
In ninth grade, she came back.

Today she is at university in Singapore.
Every summer and winter break, when she comes home to Taiwan, she comes back to train.

02

Yang Ren-hao: from basketball to three national titles

In elementary school he played basketball and had only just tried taekwondo. Yuan Ming-che asked him: “Want to do taekwondo? I promise you can win a national title.”

He started training at Yuan Power in 2016. Three years later, in 2019, he won gold in the junior high boys' +78 kg division at the National High School Games. He won again in 2020 and 2021: three in a row. He also placed second at the National Games in 2021 and 2025.

Yuan Ming-che won the same event three years running when he trained in this dojang as a high school student.

Chen Yi-en: our longest-training student, now a coach

She has trained here since she was a white belt in 2015, longer than any other current student.
She already coaches, but every week she still trains in the Advanced Class as a student.

Her next goal is the National Intercollegiate Athletic Games.

Silver at the 2020 National Junior Taekwondo Championships. That result led to the Taichung City Government's Certificate of Appreciation for her coach, shown below.

To be clear

Competing is optional

Every student who competes does so because they want to.

If your child wants to compete, there's a competition team and coaches who have competed at national and international level.
If not, they still move up in rank, get fit and feel at home here.

Nobody is pushed into competing.

Two three-peats, one dojang

From 2002 to 2004, Yuan Ming-che won the National High School Games three years in a row while training in this dojang.
Fifteen years later, his student Yang Ren-hao did the same, from 2019 to 2021.

To compete at the National High School Games, students must first be selected to represent Taichung.

Beyond medals

Not just medals

Most parents don't bring their kids here to compete. Here are changes our students' families, and our students themselves, have told us about.

Her mother says

Yi-en wasn't a healthy child. After she started taekwondo, her mother says, she had far fewer allergies and colds.
Today she is one of our coaches.

A grandmother says

One grandmother first came just to bring her granddaughter to class. Then she started training too.
She says stairs feel easier now, and she has more energy than before.

These are their own observations. Every child, and every adult, is different.
