What parents and new students ask us most
Language & living abroad
Does anyone there speak English?
Our classes are taught in Mandarin. We don't run classes in English.
That said, we have international students and families who aren't fluent in Mandarin, and they train with us without trouble. Much of a taekwondo class is learned by watching the coach and following along.
If you're unsure, come to a trial class and see for yourself. Message us on LINE to book. Using a translation app is completely fine.
I'm only in Taiwan for a few months. Can I still join?
Yes. Several of our students study abroad and train here during their summer and winter breaks.
We'll walk you through how classes work, missed-class make-ups and tuition in person on your trial day.
Getting started
What age can kids start?
Children can come for a trial from age 3.
The Kids Class is for kindergarten-age children, about 3 to 6, and focuses on fitness and games. Every child develops at a different pace, so the coach will see whether your child is ready. If it's a little too early, we'll tell you honestly, and you're welcome to come back later.
From elementary school age, children join the Basic Class or the Weekend Class.
No experience. Is that okay?
Yes. Most of our students started from zero, including our current head coach.
Can adults train here?
Yes, and no experience is needed.
We don't have a separate adults-only class. Adults train alongside the older kids, and coaches adjust intensity individually. It sounds odd, but it works, and nobody is watching you.
Beginners start in the Basic Class or the Weekend Class. If you'd rather train with older students, we recommend the Weekend Class. It has more high school students, plus a few adults. Adults who already hold a pre-black belt or black belt can join the Advanced Class.
Can I try a class first?
Yes. The trial class has a small fee, fully credited toward that month's tuition if you sign up that day.

What should we wear and bring to the first class?
Comfortable clothes you can move in. You don't need to buy a uniform.
Classes are barefoot. We vacuum, mop and disinfect the floor every day, so it's clean.
Bring a water bottle if you like. There's a water dispenser, and you can buy sports drinks and bottled water at the dojang.
Can parents watch the class?
Yes. In every class, parents can watch from the side for the whole session. It's the clearest way to see what your child is learning and how the coaches teach.
Belts & competition
How long does it take to get a black belt?
About three years on average.
The real time depends on how often a student trains, the age they start, and whether each rank is properly learned. We don't rush students through ranks. A coach has to sign off on each one before the student can register for the test.
Do I have to compete?
No. Every student who competes does so by choice.
Students who want to compete can be invited to the Competition Team. Students who don't still move up in rank and get fit. Nobody is pushed into competing.

We're at No. 190-1, Fuya Rd., Xitun Dist., Taichung 407. Look for the black wall with a big gorilla mural.
If you take a taxi, show the driver the Chinese address: 407 台中市西屯區福雅路190-1號.
By bus, get off at the 宏台別墅 stop. It's about a 1-minute walk. Scooters can park right in front of the dojang. If you drive, please find a space along Fuya Road, and please don't park in front of the shops across the street. They have a business to run.
